The Treaty of Saint Germain-en-Laye brought peace to England and France when it was signed on March 29, 1632. Under the terms of the treaty, Canada and Acadia were returned to the Crown of France and restitution was paid to the English for costs and losses suffered during the 1629 campaign. Champlain returned to New France and the transition from English to French control proceeded smoothly. Champlain rebuilt the settlement of Quebec and then built two other settlements including Trois Riveres.
