Kings Landing is one of those rare situations where a commercial development benefits the heritage and culture of the area. When the New Brunswick Government decided to give the go ahead to the Mactaquac Dam project in the 1960's they faced the lose of dozens of buildings, structures and areas which were over 100 years old and represented the way of life in New Brunswick from the 1780's to present times.

A choice was made to rescue these structures y relocating them on one site which already claimed a historic heritage for the province, Kings Landing. The buildings were moved and arranged in such a manner as to represent the succeeding ages from the arrival of the loyalists from the United States to late Victorian times.
