Historic towns and settlements which have been preserved are rare and valuable. There are several locations across the country where several buildings or in a few cases, entire towns, have been preserved. A town takes the experience of life in another town to a whole new level compared to just a heritage building. A town allows us to examine the entire scope of social interaction and experience the life of the community.

Some of this sites, such as Barkerville, serve up a staff of actors who play the role of the people of the time which had been frozen in time. This additional dimension brings the town to life and allows the visitor to slide back in time with a story or stories filling in the colours of the portrait being painted.
