The
Prime Minister's position is known as a fused executive
which means that he or she is responsible for and has the
titular power of the executive branch of the government
and the leader of the legislative branch. This makes the
PM the most powerful person in the Government. They are
in a position to not only develop, and pass legislation,
but also to enforce and execute the legislation.
The Prime Minister
becomes the embodiment of the direction which the
country will go and how it will carry out the day to day
affairs of governing the country and conducting foreign
affairs with the world. In many cases the Prime Minister
is how the world sees Canada and Canadians see
themselves.
