The Iglulik territory is located in Nunavut Territory and takes in the Northern part of Baffin d the North-western area of the Hudson Bay shoreline. The main food sources of the people was the hunting of walrus, certain types of whales and seals. They had very highly developed marine skills and used their kayaks extensively for transportation and hunting.

It was estimated that there was about 500 people of the Iglulik nation around 1800- 1850 and like many other native groups they were impacted by European diseases. The main contact with Europeans began with explorers and then quickly became whalers who invaded the arctic during the short summer hunting season.
