| The Rockies natives lived in the mountains
and valleys of the Rockies, the Selkirk's, and the interior plateau. With
limited access to salmon runs in many cases, they also depended upon the
abundant wildlife for food such as moose, caribou and several smaller
animals. They did not build the large lodges of the west coast or the
buffalo hide covered tepees of the plains but lived in smaller structures
made from logs and saplings with bark covering. They were however in an
advantageous situation in acting as a middle man for trade between the plains
and coastal nations which they took advantage of. |
