Until this great work is completed, our dominion is little more than a geographical expression - Sir John A. Macdonald

The political development of Canada has been more of an evolutionary process then a revolutionary upheaval. Most military conflict which took place before confederation was the result of colonial empires clashing on the landscape of the North American wilderness. This section of the site offers information about the political development of the country and the background and results of its political institutions in action. It offers a vast repository of information concerning the politicians, leaders, revolutionaries, and statesmen and women who built and governed Canada.
