Each Province has a Lieutenant Governor who acts as the Crown’s representative in the Legislative structure. It is their job to act in much the same manner as the Governor General in the Federal Canadian Parliament. The open the legislature, ask a member of the house to form a government after an election, decide whether the dissolve, prorogue or ask another remember to form a cabinet. They perform mainly ceremonial functions but are still crucial during elections and the formation of a new government. .
