The provinces are the areas which make up Canada and not all entered Confederation in 1867 and of those that did not all were the same size and with the same borders as they have now. The Canadian federation is a balance between federal and provincial governments with the rights and responsibilities of power and government divided between the two levels. Maps of the provinces display the vast collection of unique geographic areas which have developed and make up Canada and offer a fascinating insight into the landscape of the country and the diverse parts of the whole.
