Many of the houses which were occupied by historically significant figures in Canada's history have been preserved and represent not only the lifestyle and living conditions of each of the figures but also an idea of living conditions in their time and place.
John A Macdonald's home in Kingston is an example of a well settled town in the 1850's in a very English colony while Riel's House is representative of a frontier existence where the culture and styles of living were a little rougher then in the Canada of 1867.
Many more of these locations have been preserved across the country and are almost always with the time for a visit.
